Here’s a woman that could capture any outdoorsman’s heart. She knows how to build a fire and light it with a simple match. This is a handy skill to have and uncommon in this generation.
In this video, you learn how to build a fire with Erin Bried. She is the author of “How to Build a Fire: And Other Handy Things Your Grandfather Knew.” Boy! That sounds like an interesting book.
First, prepare the area where you will light the fire. Make sure there is plenty of space around the area, clear of debris and flammable objects. After you gather your tinder, kindling, and fuel, you are ready to make your fire lay. Start with the small stuff and it is best to only use dry wood in the beginning. Be sure to allow plenty of air flow. Once the tinder is stacked, have your kindling close by. Light it up and be sure to keep adding fuel, but don’t add too much too soon because that will cut off the airflow.
Once your fire is raging, toast some marshmallows and enjoy it.
